·Blitzkrieg on the Moral Foundations of the Military Repulsed by Extraordinary Show of Strength
·U.S. Senate Commended for Heroic Expansion of Nation’s Moral Power
Event:In a decisive vote, the United States Senate rejected a move to advance debate on a Defense Authorization bill containing a provision to repeal the military’s policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT).DADT prohibits military servicemembers from openly declaring their LGBT inclinations, at the same time barring the military from investigating a soldier’s LGBT behavior.
Change of Status:After talk in recent weeks that the bill containing DADT repeal might just get lost in the close of session shuffle, today’s vote delivered the repeal campaign a nearly definitive, total loss. Emerging victorious from this epoch ending reversal of power are the advocates for traditional moral values.
Analysis:The efforts to repeal DADT amounted to nothing less than a full-out assault on traditional moral values. The Obama Administration and advocates for the repeal attempted to use the civilian control over the military as a vehicle to broadcast social and political propaganda. But the defeat of the DADT repeal in fact strengthens the awareness and influence of the very same traditional moral values that the repeal campaign attempted to cripple.
A cornerstone of the ethics of the Bible is the clear demarcation between permitted and forbidden intimate relationships. While every person who is burdened by homosexual impulses should not be denied the sympathy that is owed to every human being, behavior acting on these impulses is wrong and should not be tolerated or encouraged in any way.For the government to officially declare that homosexual relations are just as legitimate and worthy of respect as a proper relationship of a man and wife, would have the net effect of demonizing moral beliefs rooted in the Bible.
As far as the servicemembers themselves, the repeal campaign threatened the obvious discomfort of having to share crowed sleeping and showering facilities with those who openly seek to have relations with their own gender. But on another level, the DADT repeal would have sent a clear message that those who live by the Bible’s values are nothing short of backwards primitives.
We extend the heartiest gratitude and commendation to those U.S. Senators who voted against the bill for girding the nation with strength. The fate of all nations and the outcome of all battles is solely in the hands of Heaven, and the Almighty keeps careful watch over our deeds. Our best protection from danger and the source of all our victories is directly related to the moral order by which our people chose to live.Preserving the traditional ethics of the military helps ensure our troops, as well as our citizens, wield full control of their love of country and respect for their fellow man, and fortifies America to meet the challenge of the next generation.
Status:Senator Joseph Lieberman has vowed to introduce further legislation to repeal the DADT policy before the close of the session.Senator Lieberman has sold his moral principles and the country along with it in the service of social anarchists. We are encouraged by the vote of the full Senate today that Senator Lieberman and those pushing for the repeal will see their efforts disintegrate before the new Congress takes office in January.
